ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, a key rival to President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, can return to Pakistan from exile under a Supreme Court ruling Thursday.

Outside the court, some 200 supporters of Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-N party cheered and danced in celebration. One bearded activist slaughtered six goats as a celebratory act in front of the white marble court complex, leaving the road smeared in blood.

(Sep 15, 2006) However, anger still swept across the Muslim world, with Pakistan's parliament unanimously adopting a resolution condemning the pope for making what it called "derogatory" comments about Islam, and seeking an apology from him.

A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition hosted yet another "Tribute to Goebbels" March this past Saturday, complete with Burka-clad grandmothers and kids wearing Olive Garden tablecloths. I ran into it by accident, as I got caught in the middle of the march while jogging through DC. Over my mp3 player I heard the distant chants of "Israel out of the Middle East" and the favorite "Money for jobs and education, not for war and occupation!" I walked up 15th St. and ran into some people from Free Republic who were counter-protesting. Things got heated, and cops were guarding them from the crowd. Many of the marchers, eager to show their peaceful nature, shouted "Come over here, you coward!" and "I'll kick your Zionist ass!" Overall, it was cheaper than buying Syriana but I got the same message: blame the Jews, Bush is Satan, and the more of your body that's covered, the more street cred you have. Qatar is 666?

Qatari pays $2.75 mln for mobile phone number

The tiny Gulf state of Qatar, famed mainly for having the Arab world's largest reserves of natural gas, added another record to its name Tuesday -- one of the world's most expensive telephone numbers.

At a charity event in the capital of Doha, a Qatari bidder paid $2.75 million for the mobile phone number 666-6666.

The winner, who made the highest bid 10 minutes into the auction, declined requests for interviews. Eight people took part in the auction, organized by Qatar Telecom to help raise funds for charity, paying 3,000 Qatari riyals ($824.60) per ticket.

Funds from the ticket sales were given to a local charity, while the 10 million riyals from the sale of the number will be used to expand medical services.
